worried about DVT

hi all

I just had a few questions maybe someone on here could help me through this.

I have a fear of getting a blood clot and just dropping dead from one. Ive had my leg checked a million times, from a million different doctors. Ive had physical exams, blood tests, and even an ultra sound. My doctors have assured me that Im highly unlikely to get a blood clot, with no risk factors or hereditary predispostion. The drs have also told me that if I did get one, my leg would be very swollen, red, and very warm. I would deffintly notice something was wrong. And more than one dr has told me this. But I read online that people get them all the time and have no symptoms. So why would my dr assure me I would have some warning signs??

When do no symptoms never show up? ( ex: after surgery? being overweight ect ect?)

If my dr has assured me many times, should I just let this go??

thanks for taking the time for this

Jacuzzi / sauna after DVT

Hi,
it's now over four months since my DVT was first diagnosed. It is in my left hand
side from groin (iliac vein) to below my knee and is probably still as big as ever
given that an ultrasound in early January showed it still looking exactly the same
as back in September. I would like to know if it is safe for me to use a jacuzzi
and/or sauna - I'm in generally good health now and have recently resumed
going to the gym. I tried asking my GP but he didn't really know so wondered if
anyone else has had any advice around this?

Gunther Tulip & Pain?

Greetings,
and thank you for this forum. I was diagnosed with DVT-PE Dec 21 and received a gunther tulip on Dec 22 in my groin area. The pain from the blood clots has slowly gone away but I got severe pain in my back/hip directly behind the filter. Has anyone experienced any pain with the filter? I also have shooting pain through my groin and down the front of my thigh. I couldn't even walk for a week, went to the dr - he checked for bleeding and said there wasn't any. Still tremendous pain so I went to a Chiropracter, he seemed to help me some howerever wasn't happy about working on me. The pain remains but not as stabbing and I can get around. I feel funny in my groin area and back/hip. Any info from someone with a filter would be greatly appreciated. We have searched the net to no avail and found no helpful information.

Does the brand for compression socks matter?

Does the brand for compression socks matter? What brand do you use and have you tried other brands?

I was given Mediven while I was in the hospital and they seem to be one of the more expensive brands. I have to wear the thigh high socks and the Mediven do stay up for me where I have read that others have problems with the thigh highs not staying up (I don't know if that's a brand issue, though). Do you prefer one brand over another and why?

Thanks!!

Dear Madame,
Dear Sir,

I have been asked by a manufacturer of medical compression products, to carry out a study among end-users of medical compression stockings in United Kingdom.

The purpose of this study is to better understand the utilisation and behaviour of end-users of medical compression stockings, regardless of the level of compression required. Our objective is to improve our response to the needs and expectations of people who use these products.

I am looking for people who use the following products : Activa (Elastic Hosiery, ActiLymph), BSN / Jobst (Jobst Opaque, Jobst Bellavar, Jobst Elvarex), Credenhill (Credalast,Venosan 4000, Venosan 5000, Legline 20, Legline 30), Haddenham (Veni, Star Cotton, Doktus, Goldpunkt, Gottfried, Pertex, Ven Microfine), Juzo (Dynamic, Hostess, Soft), Medi (Mediven Plus, Mediven Elegance, Mediven Forte, Mediven Active), Sigvaris (Attrait, Audace, Bambou, Club, Cotton, Détente, Diaphane, Eclat,...)

DVT after major surgery prognosis

This looks like a great source for info.
I had acetabular fracture repair on Dec 3; it's basically the hip socket. It was a cycling accident. I was non weight bearing for at least 8 weeks-after a little over 8 weeks, they haven't yet given me clearance to put weight on that leg.
They had me on anti-coagulants for 4 weeks post surgery. At 7 weeks, I noticed mild swelling a little redness in my calf. They found a clot from my thigh to my ankle and several in my lungs. Except for very minor swelling and the redness, I never have had any symptoms.
I'm now on my 6th day of hospitalization on heparin, waiting for coumadin levels to get where they want them.
My activity level was really high. I rode my bike about 5,000 miles a year and go to the gym a couple of times a week. The surgeon says my joint will be 100% and I should be able to do whatever I want. NOw, I have to deal with the clot.
Because of my very mild symptoms despite an extensive clot, the... read more

Help - Post Warfarin Symptoms

I hope some one can provide some insight as to what this new sensation, post right leg DVT and Warfarin could be.

When my DVT was discovered I had pain only in my calf, DVT was behind the knee. I had no swelling, redness or heat, did all the shots and Warfarin therapy for 6 months, only just stopped taking it three weeks ago. Have not used compressions stockings, since there has not been any swelling and all, at least not that I've noticed.

During the first month on Warfarin I had some slight tingling in my toes and shins, along with a few head aches. Tingling in toes and shins went away.

I've been off Warfarin now for almost three weeks. Last week I had a slight twinge/flicking in my calf, but has not amounted to anything more. However both legs have a heightened tingling sensation knees to toes, mostly on the shin side, that waxes and wanes while sitting and seems to be unnoticeable while walking and starts again when sitting.

I have not had a post Warfarin Ultra So... read more

So far I've spent a few nights in hospital, had ultrasound x 2, Ct x 2, chest x-ray x 1, a few ecgs, pathology x 1,576,890, been reviewed by a surgeon, cardio guy and haem Dr, caught up with the GP x 7, and have spent a grand total of $57.35 on medication. Living in Australia, apart from my medication, its been free, just wondering how much has your DVT cost you?

PE Caused by Cancer

Father had PE in late August and now has been told that there is a tumour in with Bile Duct Cancer.

We see the gastrointestinal surgeon on Monday, he did and ERCP and inserted a stint in the duct as well. While doing the ERCP he did a brushing biopsy, which has come back positive for cancer, I think our GP said it was a Adnode type.

I know some cancer's cause blood thickening and lead to PE, can anyone provide some much needed information on this type of Cancer, weather it's treatable etc.

I saw my hema Dr today for a follow up and was told I tested borderline for the Lupus anticoagulant,he wants to test it again in August and do another ultrasound as my one done last week showed the clots still there, but with good blood flow ,there is a possibility I may have to stay on Coumadin for life, which is ok,I have come to terms with this,in my opinion its no different to a diabetic taking insulin every day, the alternative doesn't appeal to me.

Does anyone else have this Lupus anticoagulant thingy ??

i was just wondering, i had a blood clot 3 months ago after a broken ankle and have been taking warfarin. I have just returned to my doctor who says i can now stop taking warfarin he said i needed no ultasound to check if it is gone. i have no symptoms but would just like to have piece of mind. Is this the proper procedure or should i be having a ultrascan to check.
